The GAIA IoT soil monitoring system is a powerful, wireless soil sensor developed for smart agriculture and smart city applications. Using innovative measurement technology, GAIA measures the fertilizer content in the soil via electrical conductivity and provides precise information on soil condition. In addition, the sensor records the water content and soil temperature in a temperature-compensated manner, which enables targeted optimization of crop management.

The recorded data is collected regularly and transmitted wirelessly via LoRaWAN® or mioty® to ensure efficient monitoring and analysis.

GAIA delivers accurate sensor values and is also suitable for harsh environments thanks to its industrial-grade housing and connections.

Other soil sensor systems usually measure the total electrical conductivity. This means that the total resistance of soil material, pore water and air is processed. However, the total EC is influenced by the water and ions in the soil. GAIA can also measure the pore EC, which is an important indicator of the fertilizer concentration in the soil. In addition, the pore EC is not affected by the volume of water as it only measures the ions in the soil.
