Advantages of intelligent fill level monitoring

Precise level measurement

The Apollon-Zeta reliably detects the fill level of solid and liquid materials, even in small containers such as paper and water dispensers.

Compact design for unobtrusive use

With its compact design, the Apollon-Zeta is ideal for public areas. The sensor remains unobtrusive while offering outstanding functionality.

Real-time fill level monitoring

Monitor the fill level in real time and receive immediate notifications as soon as critical threshold values are exceeded.

Robust, vandal-proof housing

The robust, vandal-proof housing protects the sensor from damage in demanding environments, such as public garbage cans.

Versatile use in various areas

The Apollon-Zeta is suitable for applications in waste management, healthcare and the monitoring of paper and water dispensers.

Cost-optimized and energy-efficient

Cost-effective IoT solution for monitoring fill levels with long-lasting performance.

How does it work?

With the Apollon-Zeta smart waste sensor, we rely on a similar measuring principle to that already used in the Apollon-Q. This enables us to record many measuring points and combine them into a coarse-resolution 3D image. This means that even highly inhomogeneous surfaces, such as those found on piece goods, can be captured more accurately than with conventional methods. In addition, sections of an image can either be viewed more closely or ignored. This means that interfering influences or objects in the sensor image are masked out. The Apollon-Zeta series is optimized for small containers, such as KLT boxes or waste bins, and represents a low-cost variant for smart waste applications.

Machine learning delivers better results

The individual measuring points in the selected measuring window can be used to display the rough surface quality of the filling material. Depending on the container, intelligent algorithms determine the fill level of the container, combining the individual measured values to produce a result. Machine learning models support the calculations, allowing even complex cases to be mapped. The measured values as a data basis offer interesting possibilities for many new IoT and IIoT applications. No replaceable batteries and moderate dimensions

Some of our customers want replaceable batteries and small sizes. This is basically our idea of well-designed IoT products. Nevertheless, compact dimensions, good antenna performance, long operating times and replaceable batteries can only be combined to a limited extent. Basically, products with replaceable cells in battery holders are not designed for long-lasting products due to signs of ageing and other technical difficulties. Furthermore, holders require additional installation space and access to the inside of the sensor. This in turn poses challenges for extended warranty periods. Screw connections for the upper and lower part of the housing make the product even larger. This also eliminates cost-effective production processes such as welding, potting or bonding. However, when used correctly, these techniques also create an almost hermetically sealed housing, eliminating the need for complex seals or 2K injection molding. This is why we decided against interchangeable cells for the Apollon Zeta.

In addition, the size of a product is crucial for the reception of a wireless sensor and significantly influences the antenna performance at sub 1GHz frequencies. Manufacturers recommend a minimum length of approx. 100mm. Nevertheless, after a long period of development work, we have managed to meet our customers' requirements and deliver convincing performance. The Smart Waste sensors of the Apollon-Zeta series are among the most affordable in their class and are waiting for exciting projects.

Smart Waste Sensor

The sensor was specially designed for the waste disposal and logistics sector and is primarily intended for use with smaller containers such as waste bins, four-wheel or two-wheel garbage cans. Apollon-Q has already been used in numerous projects in the waste disposal and container management sector. The sensor also reliably detects different materials or highly inhomogeneous surfaces caused by large items. Even glass or transparent objects pose no problem.
