The profile of Febris CO2

Profile icon

Febris CO2 is an intelligent, wireless CO2 traffic light. The sensor regularly measures the CO2 content, temperature and humidity in the room air. If defined limit values are exceeded, the device warns acoustically via a buzzer and visually via bright LEDs.

The collected data is transmitted via NB-IoT, mioty® or LoRaWAN®, making it easy to monitor rooms or entire buildings. The sensor can optionally be equipped with a VOC sensor. The device is powered by 4x AA batteries, which can be easily replaced. A manual measurement can be triggered by a simple double-tap.

The sensor is suitable for wall mounting as well as for placement on tables or cabinets. High-quality sensor modules from the DACH region guarantee precise measurements.

Advantages of intelligent CO2 monitoring

Precise CO2 measurement in real time

The Febris-CO2 continuously monitors the CO2 content in the air and thus ensures a healthy indoor climate, especially in indoor spaces such as offices, schools or living rooms.

Monitoring temperature and humidity

In addition to CO2, the sensor also measures temperature and humidity to analyze the overall indoor climate and ensure that all parameters are within the optimum range.

Acoustic and visual warnings

If critical CO2, temperature or humidity values are exceeded, the Febris-CO2 immediately issues acoustic and visual warnings via LEDs and a buzzer.

Battery operation for flexible placement

Powered by 4x AA batteries, the Febris-CO2 can be installed flexibly in different locations without having to rely on a power source.

Wireless data transmission

The collected data is regularly transmitted via NB-IoT, LoRaWAN® or mioty®, enabling remote monitoring and analysis of air quality in real time.

High-quality sensor technology

High-quality sensor modules from the DACH region ensure reliable and precise measurements of indoor air quality.

Properties

Visual feedback

The Febris sensor provides the user with direct visual feedback. The air quality is indicated and classified in the form of an LED traffic light system. This allows a direct reaction and the derivation of measures if necessary.

Replaceable batteries

The sensor has four replaceable standard AA batteries. This enables extra short measurement and transmission intervals with frequent replacement cycles. The sensor can be easily opened with a snap lock for replacement.

Provisioning over NFC

The sensor is activated via NFC and allows sensor and network-specific settings to be adapted to the respective application. The LinQs app is available in the App Store for Android and iOS.

Acoustic feedback

In addition to the LED traffic light system, the Febris sensor has acoustic feedback. A buzzer is integrated in the sensor for this purpose. This can be switched on or off via NFC. This means that users are also informed without having to constantly monitor the traffic light.

Power supply unit Supply

In addition to battery operation, the Febris can also be powered by a mains adapter. This enables greater application flexibility and even shorter measuring and transmission intervals. In this configuration, the battery holders are removed from the product.

Double Tap

A double tap on the Febris sensor triggers an immediate measurement. Whether the air quality has reached a critical level is indicated both by the LED traffic light and, in the case of critical room air, by an acoustic signal.

The role of air quality in the transmission of viruses

Recent studies have shown that aerosols in the air we breathe can act as carriers of viruses and bacteria. The risk of infection is particularly high indoors, where the air quality is often poorer than outdoors. Continuous monitoring of air quality is therefore crucial to minimize the risk of virus transmission.

The CO2 content correlates with the amount of aerosol and therefore also with the viral load and is considered an indicator of indoor air quality and the risk of infection in indoor spaces.

The concentration of CO2 in indoor air is a reliable indicator of air quality. Our Febris CO2 sensors measure this concentration precisely and provide valuable data that helps to assess the risk of infection:

Real-time monitoring: Febris sensors continuously monitor the CO2 concentration in the room air.

Warning system: If defined limit values are exceeded, the sensors automatically trigger an alarm that prompts immediate ventilation.

Data analysis: The collected data is aggregated and analyzed to identify patterns and improve understanding of infection pathways.

Corona sensor traffic light in buildings

Due to its design, the Febris series is perfectly suited for use as a smart corona traffic light. Aerosols in the air we breathe have currently been identified as a possible transmission route for the coronavirus. It is also certain that infection rates are higher indoors than in the fresh air. This leads to the suspicion that poorer indoor air quality increases the risk of infection. One measure of indoor air quality is the CO2 gas concentration, which the sensors in the Febris range can determine. Ventilation is intended as a measure to reduce the risk. The Febris is currently being used together with our web solution in a number of building complexes. For example, the sensor is used as a monitoring system at the FAPS chair at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg.

The Febris is currently also being tested in production environments and workshops. Poorly ventilated environments in particular can lead to corona infections. If different employees are infected, the authorities sometimes require a complete replacement of the employees on a shift. In this case, documented air quality trends can help to contain the risk. This is why the sensor or the complete solution is worthwhile for the manufacturing industry. We also offer an API interface to embed the data in the respective ERP systems. Another advantage is the simple installation using strong magnets. This allows the position of the sensor to be adjusted as required.
